Stand-Up Pouches That Hold Their Shape, Their Seal, and Your Margin

Most stand-up pouch complaints trace back to three failures: pouches that collapse on the retail shelf because the bottom gusset was under-specified, seals that leak because the sealant layer was too thin for the filling line, and print that fades because the wrong ink system met the wrong surface. Each one costs a brand more than the pouch ever did.

G T Pack Industries manufactures stand-up pouches (also called standy pouches or doypacks) at our Greater Noida facility with the laminate structure engineered to your product — not picked from a stock list. Whether you are packing 100 g of whole spices or 1 kg of pet food, the pouch is built around three questions: what barrier does your product need, what does your filling line demand, and how must it look on the shelf?

Our production runs on 8-colour rotogravure printing, solvent lamination, and in-house pouching — the complete conversion chain under one roof, certified to ISO 9001, ISO 22000, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001. That matters for one practical reason: when printing, lamination, and pouching happen in the same plant, tolerance errors between stages do not stack up. Your 500th carton matches your 1st.

We supply stand-up pouches across India and export to the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the UK, Germany, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, with export documentation and palletisation handled in-house.

Laminate Structures Manufactured:

  • Economy — PET 12µ / PE 80µ — moisture protection for dry goods and short shelf life
  • Standard Barrier — PET 12µ / MetPET 12µ / PE 80µ — moisture, oxygen and light protection for snacks, namkeen, tea, spices
  • High Barrier — PET 12µ / Alu Foil 9µ / PE 90µ — full oxygen, moisture, light and aroma block for coffee, protein powders, pharma, export-grade foods
  • Kraft Look — Kraft Paper 80–100 GSM / MetPET 12µ / PE 60µ — standard barrier with natural paper appearance for organic and premium retail
  • Window Pouch — PET 12µ / PE with registered clear window — for products sold on visual appeal

Barrier Performance: MetPET structures typically deliver WVTR below 1.0 g/m²/day and OTR below 1.5 cc/m²/day (industry reference values); Alu 9µ foil structures bring both near zero. Batch-specific test data shared at quotation.

Applications

  • Food & Snacks : Namkeen, chips, dry fruits, and breakfast cereals use MetPET structures for crunch retention — oxygen and moisture are the two enemies of texture, and a PET 12µ/MetPET 12µ/PE 80µ pouch blocks both at a cost economy films cannot match for shelf life delivered per rupee.
  • Spices & Masala : Ground spices lose volatile oils through poor barriers. Foil-based structures (PET 12µ/Alu 9µ/PE 90µ) preserve aroma for export shipments where transit alone can take 45 days.
  • Tea & Coffee : Coffee requires a degassing valve and full light block; premium teas increasingly ship in kraft-look stand-up pouches for shelf differentiation.
  • Nutraceuticals & Pharma : Whey proteins, supplements, and powders demand near-zero WVTR. Our ISO 22000-certified production and foil structures meet the documentation requirements pharma buyers audit for.
  • Pet Food : Larger formats (1–5 kg) with reinforced gussets and heavy sealant layers withstand rough retail handling.
  • Agriculture & Seeds : Moisture-controlled structures protect germination rates during monsoon-season storage.

PEOPLE ALSO ASK

  • What is the difference between a stand-up pouch and a doypack?
Nothing — "doypack" is the original trade name (from Doyen, the French company that invented the format in 1963) and "stand-up pouch" or "standy pouch" is the generic term. They describe the same bottom-gusseted pouch that stands upright when filled.
  • What material is used in stand-up pouches?
Multi-layer laminates. The outer layer (usually PET 12µ) carries print and stiffness, the middle layer (MetPET 12µ or Alu foil 9µ) provides the barrier, and the inner layer (PE 60–90µ) forms the seal. Kraft paper can replace the outer layer for a natural look.
  • Are stand-up pouches food safe?
Yes, when manufactured under food-safety-certified conditions with food-grade films and inks. G T Pack's production is ISO 22000:2018 certified, and food-contact compliance documentation is available with every food-grade order.
  • What is the minimum order quantity for custom printed stand-up pouches?
MOQ depends on pouch size and structure because rotogravure cylinders are made per design. Share your size and quantity at enquiry and we confirm MOQ and per-unit pricing together — for smaller trial runs, we advise on the most economical route.
  • Can stand-up pouches be recycled?
Standard multi-material laminates are difficult to recycle in mixed streams, which is why mono-material PE-based recyclable structures are gaining ground under India's EPR framework. We manufacture both conventional and paper-based structures — tell us your compliance requirement and we will match the structure to it.
  • Which stand-up pouch is best for spices?
For domestic retail with 6–9 month shelf life, PET 12µ/MetPET 12µ/PE 80µ. For export or 12+ month shelf life, PET 12µ/Alu 9µ/PE 90µ — the foil layer stops aroma loss that metallised film only slows.
